YOUTH MISSION
TRIP 2008
HEADED TO THE BIG EASY Members of the
WEMO youth group and staff will roll away from
The Underground before noon on Friday, June
6 for a 9-day mission trip to New Orleans, returning
June 15. The group will be working in the continuing
post-Katrina hurricane clean-up and rehabilitation
effort along the gulf coast. This continues
an ongoing mission and service focus for youth
in WEMO's Youth Ministry. I'm privileged to
be participating in this event as a rookie;
it's my first WEMO youth mission trip.
PRAY & STAY UPDATED Please pray
for the following youth and staff as we travel
and serve: Travis Stevens, Ronnie Payne, Sam
Hay, Jordan Bowles, Hannah Drummond, Molly Hay,
Michelle Leak, John Hay Jr., Gale and Georgia
O'Connor. Thanks to all who have supported the
youth in raising funds for this mission event!

SOME SUPPLIES STILL NEEDED You can still
help (last minute!) by offering some of the
following supplies for trip. Bring supplies
to the church by noon on Thursday. 4 large powder
Gatorade; 3 large powder Lemonade(from Sam's);
6 cases bottle water; 2 12 pk paper towels;
4 150 pk paper plates; 2 12pk toilet paper;
1 commercial size box plastic tableware; 2 150
ct napkins; 2 bundles work rags (white not red);
3 boxes filtered masks (for work in mold areas);
paint brushes; paint bucket; work gloves. Thanks!
PRAYING
CONCERT OF PRAYER Thursdays at 6:30;
all are welcome to gather to pray earnestly
together for our church. Meet in the East End
(Coffeehouse).
MEN'S PRAYER BREAKFAST All men are welcome
each Wednesday morning at 6:15 am in Ellis Hall.
Hot breakfast, table fellowship and earnest
prayer. On your way by 7:15 am.
PRAY IN INTERCESSION Pray God's comfort,
healing touch and answers for the following
requested concerns:
-- Pray for Pat Strange who had successful shoulder
replacement surgery last week and is now in
therapy at Eagle Valley Medallion.
-- Pray continued healing for Mike Leak as he
continues therapy at home. Mike has improved
since Sunday.
-- Pray encouragement for Guy Lane in rehab
at West Park.
-- Pray healing for Nancy Strange after surgery
last week.
-- Pray for Anita Miller as she anticipates
further heart tests.
-- Pray healing for Ruby Hill. Ruby needs to
walk on her own to be released from Plainfield
Healthcare Center.
-- Pray grace for Mike & Heather Pierce
as Heather nears delivery date for their firstborn
child.
-- Pray grace for Joe Black at Lakeview; also
for Phyllis.
-- Pray grace for Vance Robbins at home; also
for Viola.
-- Pray grace for Loy & Patsy Sutton at
home.
PRAY FOR BREAKTHROUGH With thanksgiving,
pray for encouragement, wisdom and spiritual
breakthrough:
-- Pray for the people of China and Myanmar
after the natural disasters that devastated
so many lives and communities.
-- Pray employment for all who are seeking it.
-- Pray wisdom and vision for Free Methodist
leadership.
-- Pray wisdom and healing for families working
through tough relationship and household situations.
-- Pray for personal spiritual and logistics
preparations for the Youth Mission Trip to New
Orleans, June 6-15.
-- Pray for Tim & Dirancy Foddrill and Jason
Courtney as they prepare for a mission trip
to Brazil next week.
-- Pray wisdom and power for preparations, activities
and services for all weeks of camps at Wabash
Park Camp.
-- Pray daily for our Free Methodist missionaries:
- Drs. Joel & Janette Miller (Mexico City);
David & Sheryl Yardy (Bangkok, Thailand);
Kay Stotts (Santiago, Chile); Michael &
Maria Long (Athens, Greece).

GATHERING
CLC+ MOVIE NIGHT 5th & 6th graders
will meet in the Lower Level tonight (Wednesday,
June 4) at 5:30 pm to watch the movie "Facing
the Giants" together. Pizza, too!
COFFEEHOUSE Enjoy conversation with
other adult Christians over coffee or hot tea
and snacks on Wednesdays, 6:30-8:00 pm in the
East End. Coffeehouse will meet this evening,
June 4, then take a summer break. Our thanks
to Anna Shepherd and Mike Conkle who have graciously
hosted Coffeehouse throughout the year.
SOFTBALL The Comunidad Cristiana/WEMO
softball season is in full swing, games are
Monday evenings. Call Tim Foddrill if you'd
like to play.
SCAMPS @ INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS All 55+
are invited to join the SCAMPS attending the
Indianapolis Indians baseball game together
on Wednesday, June 25. Meet at the church at
1 pm to carpool to the 2 pm game at Victory
Field. Tickets are $9; give your $ to Wally
or Mary Murray by June 22.

20-mile night-time bicycle ride through Indy

@ Eagle Creek Park. This is an all-area FMC
event.

WORD CENTERING
SUNDAY SCHOOL Dedicated teachers will
share insightful Bible lessons at 9:30 am each
Sunday for students at all levels - children,
youth and adults. Make this hour a part of your
weekly Bible exploration and application --
a key component of a life of discipleship. Start
your Lord's Day with Breakfast Fellowship in

evening Bible Study led by Steve Strange is
taking a summer break.

INCARNATING
CHRIST
CELEBRATE THE NEIGHBORHOOD The West
Indianapolis Community Day is Saturday, June
7, 11 am to 2 pm. W. Morris Street will be closed
from Belmont to Kappes. Lots of local live music
(including Comunidad Cristiana's worship band),
prizes, awards, fun and games are planned. WEMO
has opportunity to demonstrate Christ's caring
presence and our long-term commitment to love
this community. Please come on out to participate
even for a brief time. You can volunteer for
children's games, information distribution,
and several interactive activities.
APPOINTED TO SERVE At our West Morris
Street Free Methodist Society Meeting on Sunday,
June 1, the following persons were elected to
serve throughout the next 12 months: Trustees:
Ed Larrison and Dan Crawford (3-year term).
Treasurer: Missy Bradburn. Financial Secretary:
Dave Kirk. Counting teams: Rachel Lane, Ken
Garner, Judy Garner, and Dee Blankenhorn. Let
us support these as they begin or renew their
servant leadership among us.
DEMOLITION WEEKEND AT WABASH CAMP Volunteers
are needed on Friday, June 6 (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
and 7 (9 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) at Wabash Park Camp
in Clay City for a demolition weekend to tear
down 7 cabins. Any time you can offer will be
appreciated. Please contact the Wabash Conference
office as soon as possible if you will be able

BABY SHOWER FOR DAWN MILES All WEMO
women are invited to a baby shower for Dawn
Miles on Sunday, June 22 in the Lower Level,
2:00-4:00 p.m. A baby boy is due in July. Contact
Denise Bowles for info.
WEDDING SHOWER FOR BRAD & MACKENSIE
A come & go wedding shower for Brad Fugett
and Mackensie Heaton is from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday,
June 29, in the Lower Level. This shower is
for men, too! Brad & MacKensie are registered
at WalMart and Bed, Bath & Beyond.
WEMO VBS - July 27-31 We are now recruiting
volunteers and seeking supplies for our VBS.
It is Sunday-Thursday, July 27-31. Lana Reeser
is our VBS Director and she is counting on lots
of us-MOST of us!-being a part of this great
week of outreach and Christian education. Please
clear this week, pray for it, and get involved!
BLESSING
CONGRATS, GRADUATES On Sunday, June
1, we were privileged to honor Ben Davis High
School graduates Michelle Leak and Thomas Randall.
Our prayers go before Michelle and Thomas in
their intended educational pursuits. We also
recognized the following university graduates:
Amanda Hasz Siemens (Central Christian University,
now pursuing Masters degree in social work;
recently married Central Christian grad Ben
Siemens), Mary Osborne (University of the Cumberlands,
now pursuing Masters degree at Indiana University),
Abby Hay (Olivet Nazarene University, now pursuing
Masters degree at Kansas University), Lee O'Connor
(Greenville College, now directing The Simple
Room youth outreach), Jamie Snowden O'Connor
(serving in Greenville; she and Lee are expecting
a child in the fall), Tracey Schneider (IUPUI,
beginning a teaching position at Snacks Crossing
Elementary School in Pike Township). Our blessings
and prayers are with you all!
CAMP SCHOLARSHIP - THANKS! A number
of children who participate in WEMO are now
registered to attend one of the Free Methodist
CLC Camps in Clay City this Summer

to your support with scholarships. Thank you
and God bless you! In addition, 6 WEMO children
received special scholarships to attend a Springhill
Christian Camp in Freetown this summer. Thanks
to Dawn Miles for her efforts to enroll kids
in camp. May these lives be positively formed
in Christ through Christian camping.

FAREWELL, WANDA DUNHAM We said "farewell"
to Wanda Dunham on Sunday. She is moving to
Texas to live with her daughter, Annette. Wanda
has served WEMO over a generation as a Sunday
School teacher, Sunday School secretary, volunteer
in the Clothing Pantry and in many helpful ways.

Christ go with you, wherever He may send you.
May He guide you through the wilderness, protect
