Hosting Summer Worship Watch Parties
Ready to worship together in person with others? Invite your neighbors, friends, extended family and/or church family over for a Sunday morning watch party and engage together with the West Morris facebook live service.
Gather in your backyard or on the front porch. Think about possibly inviting others to bring food or drinks to share.
"Disciple" Discipleship Class
Being a disciple of Jesus means that we are actively engaged in growing in discipleship ourselves, while also discipling others.
Not sure how to best do that? Participate in the "Disciple" discipleship class on Sunday nights through July 19 on Zoom at 7 PM. Click here for more info!
Virtual VBS on Zoom
Partner with our children's ministry leaders as they creatively lead Vacation Bible School on Zoom! Kids and leaders will meet together to sing, do crafts, hear stories and play games on Thursdays and Sundays throughout July.
Whether you're a regular-VBS volunteer, or new to the idea, the leaders would love your input and help!
Dinner Church on Zoom
Help build community and relationships! Individuals and families will gather weekly on Zoom at a set mealtime to connect and eat together. A simple worship service will be including in the gathering time that includes Scripture reading, discussion and prayer. Become a host or a participant in this new version of inviting people over to your house for dinner! You don't have to cook, or even clean. Instead, you'll just be present with others and build relationships together.
Upward Soccer Camp
Join us as we partner with Upward Sports to offer a 4-5 session soccer camp (spread over 4-5 weeks) with built-in devotional time for local children in the neighborhood. Let's use the power of sports to create gospel connections with children and families in our neighborhood by providing opportunities for low/no-cost soccer camps. Serve by building business partnerships to help offset participants' costs, advertising, coaching, and following-up with kids and families.
Upward Sports provides the training, coaching guidelines, devotional materials, and advertising. In addition, each child who registers for the camp gets a t-shirt, soccer ball, water bottle and decorative poster of a cross. Let's connect with families, build relationships, and contribute meaningfully to our community, all while sharing Jesus!
Drive-Thru Dinner Church
In these difficult days, people face food insecurity, isolation and loneliness. West Morris Church wants to be part of helping address those very-real needs and challenges with our Drive-Thru Dinner Church. We will hand out prepared, pre-packaged meals to individuals and families, while also offering a prayer stop and including devotional materials. We desire to build a community around food - much like Jesus did - and provide and meet tangible needs - with food, community, and spiritual food!
You can help serve with our Drive-Thru Dinner Church in a variety of ways including: building partnerships with community partners for advertising and food donations, food shopping/prep: prepare a simple meal and package into to-go boxes, setting up and cleaning up the food distribution, preparing kids’ activity packs to hand-out with the meals, and connecting with participants through a friendly smile and wave or a prayer!
Other Ideas
These are just a few ideas for ways we can connect with our community this summer. But we want to hear yours! How can we serve, connect with and minister to our community? Other possible ideas include sack lunch giveaways, one-day-a-week popsicle giveaways in the park, or an organized basketball tourney in the soon-to-be-renovated basketball court.
