December 26 - The Two Turtle Doves are The Old and New Testaments

Read Genesis 1:1-5 and John 1:1-9 about God who created all and is the Light of the World

The Bible is God’s Word to us. It tells about who God is, how he loves us, and what his plan is for this world. The Old Testament tells how God created the world, called Israel to be his people, rescued them from slavery, and led them to a land flowing with milk and honey. But no matter how many times God reached out to his people, offering them love and forgiveness, the people remained lost and broken. God’s promises remained unfulfilled.

The New Testament tells the story of how Jesus came to earth. He came to heal all who were lost and broken. He came to fulfill all of God’s promises. The New Testament tells the story of Jesus’ life and ministry, his death and resurrection, and the amazing beginning of his church. There are some incredible stories to discover in the Bible!

The suggested readings for today tell about God who created the light - and who is the Light of the World. Even though our world today is filled with darkness, God’s light also shines brightly. In fact, his light overcomes the darkness. Did you see his light shining this Christmas season? Maybe in a person’s generosity? Or through the kind words of a stranger? How have you shone God’s light to others around you?
